Ampthill Festival 2010

Ampthill Open Gardens

A VERY BIG THANK YOU!

Thank you to all those visitors who took time to visit the 14 gardens that opened on 4 July at the inaugural event of Ampthill Open Gardens. The gardens looked great, the weather was lovely, the visitors many and complimentary and the whole day was a great success.   The profit made will be divided between the Ampthill Festival Fund to help with next year’s festival and the festival’s nominated charity, the Ampthill and Flitwick Youth Counselling Service.   Both charities will benefit to the tune of £270.

Thank you too to all the garden owners who volunteered to open their gardens to the public – quite a daunting affair with lots of hard work involved.   And thanks also to June Phillips and Lis Roberts who provided refreshments and a sit down for visitors to recharge their batteries!

If any Ampthill resident is interested in opening their garden next year, all they have to do is give me a call on 01525 403076 or email me on angiemurdoch@virginmedia.com.   We would like to include new gardens in the 2011 event and look forward to hearing from you.

Theme: 'Lets Party'- Celebrating 30 Years of Ampthill Festival

Gala Day - Sunday 27th June 2010
Ampthill Park Proms - Saturday 26th June 2010
AmpRocks Concert - Friday 25th June 2010

Ampthill Festival iwas 30 years old in 2010 and as you might expect it was bigger and better! Following the huge success of the first Ampthill Proms in the Park, the 2nd Proms evening  on June 26th was a huge success attracting over 1200. AmpRocks was a new event and attracted over 200 to see Ska Legend. Pauline Black (formerly of The Selecter) and a nuber of local bands. Sunday 26th June saw the traditional Festival Parade kick off Gala Day and despite clashing with England's World Cup match against Germany over 5000 attended with entertainment for all the family and music from local bands lasting into the evening. The best ever Festival, put on by volunteers for their fellow residents. If you want to be a part of Ampthill Festival 2011, contact Mark Smith on 01525 402560 or at mark.a.smith@ampthill.org.uk
